Heidi in America – Leeds United Stateside 2026
What an adventure
Heidi in America turned out to be!
When I first looked at the cost of following Leeds United on their 2026 pre-season tour, I really wasn't sure I could justify it. In the end, I decided life is for living and opportunities like this don't come around very often. Thanks to Mick Hewitt for organising our group of 20, I packed my bags, took my Leeds flag and headed across the Atlantic. What followed was a fantastic journey through
Tampa, New York and Chicago, meeting Leeds fans from the UK, America and much further afield along the way.
The football started against
Wrexham at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, where we lost 3-2, but pre-season is about far more than the result. From there it was on to New York and New Jersey, with time to see the Statue of Liberty, Times Square and the 9/11 Memorial before Leeds faced Sunderland. A
1-0 win at the Sports Illustrated Stadium, thanks to an early Lukas Nmecha goal, gave us something else to celebrate. Everywhere I went, I seemed to bump into Leeds fans, pose for photos and enjoy a good chat. That's one of the things I love most about following Leeds — wherever in the world we go, our supporters make it feel like home.
Then it was on to Chicago and Soldier Field for the final game against Liverpool, and what a way to finish! After going 2-0 down, I sent a message home at half-time saying we'd come back and win — and somehow I got that one right! Four second-half goals gave Leeds an incredible 4-2 victory, sending our travelling support home very happy. From American diners and yellow school buses to fan events, sightseeing, old friends and plenty of new ones, this trip became about much more than three football matches. I've brought together my photos, videos and memories from the whole adventure on this page so you can follow the journey with me. America, you were amazing — and once again our Leeds United fans showed why, for me, they're the best in the world.
Marching On Together! 💙💛
Leeds United 2024-25 Season Preview: A Journey Back to the Premier League
As the 2024-25 EFL Championship season kicks off, Leeds United enters with renewed determination and cautious optimism. Under the stewardship of Daniel Farke, the Whites aim to reclaim their place in the Premier League after last season's heartbreak.
Leeds United Manager, Daniel Farke, a seasoned manager with two Championship titles under his belt, knows the league’s demanding nature all too well. With a refreshed squad blending young talents and experienced players, the challenge ahead is clear: to navigate the relentless 46-game campaign and emerge stronger for the battles ahead.
This season brings its fair share of challenges for Farke and his team. The Championship is as competitive as ever, with clubs like Sheffield United, Burnley, and Middlesbrough posing serious threats. Leeds must also contend with the pressure of expectation from a loyal fanbase that dreams of top-flight football returning to Elland Road. Consistency, resilience, and adaptability will be key for the squad. Farke will need to instill a strong defensive structure while ensuring the attacking flair Leeds fans crave is ever-present. With the likes of Georginio Rutter, Luis Sinisterra, Cyrensio Summerville and Archie Gray being replaced by Ramazzani, Soloman, Bogle and Tanaka, all are expected to play pivotal roles, with every game representing a chance to make a statement of intent.
For Leeds United supporters, the hope is palpable. The pain of failure at Wembley is still a fresh memory, but the pride in their team remains unwavering. From the stands of Elland Road to the farthest corners of the globe, Leeds fans will be united in their belief that this season can be one of redemption, and ultimate glory. With Farke at the helm and the players ready to rise to the occasion, the dream of promotion is alive and well.
As the first whistle blows in August, the journey begins anew—Marching on Together, with eyes firmly fixed on the Premier League.
Fixtures
As Leeds United embarks on their quest for promotion in the 2024-25 EFL Championship season, the fixture list presents a demanding yet exciting journey for Daniel Farke and his squad. The campaign kicks off at Elland Road against newly promoted Portsmouth in August, a fixture that will set the tone for the season ahead. With the home crowd behind them, Leeds will be eager to make an early statement of intent. Tough tests follow quickly, including crucial matchups against promotion rivals such as Sheffield United, Burnley, Luton Town, as well as League 1 promoted teams including Portsmouth, Oxford and the old foe in the form of Derby County. The festive period could also prove pivotal, with a run of demanding fixtures in quick succession that could define the Whites’ standing heading into the new year.
Away days in the Championship are always unpredictable, and Leeds will face a number of tricky trips to hostile grounds throughout the campaign. With games like Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, and a locally charged clashes at Hillsborough against Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, will test the squad’s resilience. Farke’s experience in navigating the Championship will be crucial, as the team must find consistency both at home and on the road. The final stretch of the season is equally challenging, with the hope that the team will face key fixtures against both automatic promotion and play-off hopefuls through to the potentially decisive final-day trip to Plymouth Argyle in May 2025. If Leeds are still in the promotion race by then, that long journey to Home Park could carry enormous significance.
For the fans, every match represents a step toward redemption and a return to the top flight. I'm sure Elland Road will remain a fortress, with the crowd pushing the team forward in every home game, while the travelling supporters will bring their undoubtedly unwavering passion to away grounds across the country. The road to promotion is never easy, but with the right mix of talent, determination, and tactical acumen, Leeds United has every reason to believe that this season could end in celebration. With each fixture bringing new challenges and opportunities, all eyes will be on Farke’s men as they fight to bring Premier League football back to LS11!
