Leeds United v Norwich City FAC5
8th March 2026 at Elland Road
2025/26 Season
Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak to me, have photos taken or with me and comment about the TNT Sports YouTube video that my granddaughter and I were interviewed for that went live yesterday. It can be viewed on this link if you haven’t already seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAizHpNIZ0M As always the support of everyone means so much and is greatly appreciated so thank you.
I’d said all my superstitions have been kicked into touch because after seeing two magpies (for joy) on our last playoff final, we still didn’t win. As I pulled up at my daughter’s house, my music was playing on a shuffle on the radio when, we shall not be moved started playing then, we’ll be running round Wembley with the Cup. It had to be a sign! Next at Elland Road, I saw there was a van selling pork pies which immediately took me back to the old Fullerton Park Supporters Club hut. We always used to get one of those with mushy peas and mint sauce, so again I took it as a sign and bought one! Billy Bremner always was and always will be my hero and seeing him lift the FA Cup from Her Majesty the Queen in 1972 when we won the FA Cup for the only time in our history, will always be my favourite game.
The Billy Bremner Gala Dinner was advertised in the programme today and posters have been left in the shops on Elland Road if anyone wants to pick one up. Before the game I met Darren at Billy’s statue for photos with a painting that will be part of the auction, so make sure you get your tickets.
The next prize to be drawn in the online raffle will be a Billy Bremner painting by Robert Endeacott so please keep supporting this, tickets available on the details are on Bremner statue link below.
On the 10-minute mark was a round of applause for little Ella who sadly died of cancer. See further information on the link below from Paige Williams who is fundraising in her memory.

With Farke seeing out a one game ban in the director’s box due to his recent red card, assistant manager Eddie Riemer was in charge today. The game took a bit to get going when Nmecha put the ball into the net. It felt quite surreal, so I looked at the linesman to see no flag up, only for VAR to look into the goal and disallow it for handball against Gnonto. I hate VAR! That fired Leeds up and after Gnonto passed the ball for Gudmundsson to run onto in the penalty area, he kept the ball in on the byline and Longstaff pirouetted to score a great goal to put us into the lead. We thought we’d taken a further lead when James crossed the ball into the area for Gnonto to head into the net only to see the offside flag up. VAR again said no goal, but replays showed it was a correct decision. I still hate VAR! James was involved again and sent a great pass into the area which deflected to Gudmundsson to send the ball into the bottom right corner to give us some breathing space and a two-goal lead.
The second half saw Norwich put more pressure on us with a couple of good moves but thankfully their scoring prowess was zero, one rolling right across the goal having beaten Perri only to see them smash it into the side netting. Gnonto gave Piroe a chance to hit a long range shot which powered off the crossbar as Leeds now upped the pressure. Nmecha had a shot saved by their keeper after a great run by Piroe. Leeds then put the game to bed after some good play out of defence by Stach then Nmecha and Piroe sent a first-time low ball into the net for our third goal on the day. We were so close to a fourth goal after Nmecha and Gnonto combined. Gnonto got round their defence and put a perfect pass into the goalmouth which their keeper saved but the rebound got tangled in Nmecha’s feet and the ball went narrowly wide.
A good Leeds win to put us into the next round of the FA Cup and we will find out tomorrow who our next opponents will be. In the meantime, I will be giving a presentation on Leeds to a group at Overgate Hospice and as I can talk for Yorkshire, hopefully they will enjoy what I have to say. Onto Crystal Palace away next week which is now a Sunday game but causes all sorts of problems with train issues for fans going to the game.
See you there, LUFC – Marching on Together!
