Birmingham v Leeds FAC4
15th February 2026 at St Andrews
2025/26 Season
Back in FA Cup action where it will give some of our players with little minutes played so far this season, the chance to show us what they can do. We have a decent squad depth, and it is important that they get some game time so they can slot in as and when is necessary. With only a few minutes here and there, that isn’t enough time spent on the pitch for me.
The last couple of weeks has seen me reach my limits again with stress and plenty of times not sleeping well. I realised the limitations of my IT skills when getting the advertising leaflet sorted for the Billy Bremner Gala Dinner on 23rd May. Thankfully I have been introduced to the 21st century by Paul who runs my website and all details for both the Gala Dinner and the Online raffle can be found on the links below. A lot of hard work is going on behind the scenes, and we are grateful for all the support shown. If you can share this information with other Leeds/Scotland fans, that would be great and thank you. The winner of the holiday in Cullen for the online raffle has been notified, and it is now open again for other prizes. All tickets already bought and in future, will be included in every draw.
As it was starting to snow, I left home earlier than intended and my daughter was still in bed when I texted her to say I was on my way. I think the stresses and tiredness finally caught up with me because after our pub stop, I started to feel ill and shaky, so was enjoying a cup of tea when I was caught on camera before the game.
It wasn’t a pretty game today and typically had extra time and penalties when it was so damp cold, but the main thing is, we are in the next round draw. The Birmingham fans singing, keep right on till the end of the road took me back many years to my first time at St Andrews. Our Wallace Arnold coach got there after kick off but we were right at the front behind the goal where my friends Carole and Margaret threw chewing gum to Gary Sprake. It was impressive when the whole stadium sang it back then, but although it was loud today, there were many quiet periods in between.

Leeds drew the game 1-1 with a goal from Nmecha (49) but won the game on penalties 4-2. Piroe, Calvert-Lewin, Aaronson and Longstaff scored the Leeds penalties and Perri saved their third one and their fourth one was ballooned over the top of the crossbar.

I would like to say that the first half was a classic but unfortunately for us it wasn’t. With some of the players having not played much so far this season, I thought it told as we looked like we hadn’t played together before. Birmingham were putting us under a lot of pressure and thankfully Perri made a great save which hit the crossbar and then we cleared it. There were tributes to the Birmingham owner before and during the game as he was wished a speedy recovery from a stroke. Perri made another good save just before the break as we kept the score goalless at half time.
Leeds took an early lead in the second half after some good work from Okafor to set up Nmecha to score. It was good to see us beat the first man from a corner as Bijol rose to head the ball just over the crossbar. As the minutes ticked down Birmingham piled the pressure on us again and a long-range shot went into the net via a deflection. It meant we had extra time and penalties to look forward to although Bijol got a good tackle in to prevent them getting a last-minute winner.
For once we did very well with our penalties and to be honest, I hadn’t held out much hope for us going through to the next round, but we did. With the draw for the next round taking place tomorrow, we will know our next opponents soon enough but will be back in the Midlands next week for the game at Villa. See you there, LUFC – Marching on Together!
